Of her early childhood Voria remembers nothing but cruelty, a succession of inhumane matters and an ever-present hunger. Voris was brought up on one of the groat slave latifundia of Kostaddi, deep in the Lunar Heartlands. She cannot recall her parents, and has always had to bear the stigma of being called an "orphan". What is more , Voris was different from other children: she has two great lumps on her back and soft downy hair running from them to the base of her spine. Naturally, she is sure that she has been touched by Thed´s curse. Ever since she was forced to strip and reveal her deforming before a jeering crowd at a slave auction, Voris has undertaken to hide her feature. Harboring her terrible secret has given Voria a reserved and sullen personality, and she has got to the point where she has got to the point where she even hates to be touched.
Voria came to the Lunar frontier In the entourage of her master, a Lunar cavalry officer. One night, instead of visiting the stables as was his wont, he burst into the kitchens blind drunk, intent an rape. Coming across Voris's deformity the revolted soldier sought to strike her, but the terrified slave girl snatched up his knife and plunged it in his belly. Leaving him to die, she fled the camp. On the road she met up with Euridice, another refugee from Lunar justice. The older woman befriended her and together they sought out Thanatar. Voria was accepted gladly into the ranks of the Atyari, they discovered her distinguishing feature. Althrough she hates the oppressive darkness of the tunnels, in Thanatar she has at least found a place where she is accepted for what she is.
