Notes Gas bloaters drift through marsh air as swollen, translucent horrors, their purple flesh buoyed by foul gases that seep constantly from their skin and trail a stench of decay. Silent in motion yet impossible to ignore at close range, they glide above reeds or skim the ground, adjusting their height with uncanny precision as barbed tentacles probe for prey. When hunting, they unleash brief flashes of ignited gas with a crack of static from their tendrils, blinding victims before coiling around them and delivering paralysing venom. Voracious and eerily persistent, they consume vast amounts of organic matter and spawn in hidden bogs, their young erupting skyward in gas-fueled bursts to begin a life spent almost entirely adrift.
